Patients

Add patients, assign them to visits, and use background notes to give the AI context.

On this page· 5 sections
  1. Add a patient
  2. Details and background
  3. Assign or change the patient on a visit
  4. Find a patient
  5. Delete a patient

Patients are shared across your practice, and their details are encrypted. Starting a visit never creates a patient automatically.

Add a patient

  1. Select Patients in the sidebar, then Add patient. You can also select Add new patient in the patient picker when you start a visit.
  2. Enter the patient’s Full name. Date of birth and Sex are optional.
  3. Select Add patient.

Details and background

Open a patient to edit their Full name, Date of birth, Sex, MRN / chart number and Background, then select Save changes. Background notes, such as a problem list, medications, allergies and relevant history, are given to the AI when it writes this patient’s notes.

The patient’s page also lists their visits. Select Start visit to open Visits with the patient already selected.

Assign or change the patient on a visit

Open the visit and select Link patient at the top, or Change if a patient is already assigned. To remove the patient, select Change, then Unlink patient. The note isn’t rewritten automatically: to use the new patient’s details and background, regenerate the note from its ⋯ menu.

While a visit has a signed document, you can’t link, change or unlink its patient, because the patient’s name and date of birth appear on the signed document’s PDF and Word exports. Amend the signed document first, change the patient, then sign it again.

Find a patient

On Patients, search by name, MRN or date of birth.

Delete a patient

On the patient’s page, open the ⋯ menu, select Delete patient and confirm. Their details are destroyed. Their visits are kept, without a patient assigned.
