Trash and restoring visits

Deleted visits stay in the trash for 3 days by default. Restore them, or delete them forever.

On this page· 4 sections
  1. Delete a visit
  2. Restore a visit
  3. Delete a visit forever
  4. Trash settings

Delete a visit

  1. Open the visit, then open the ⋯ menu at the top right.
  2. Select Delete visit, then Delete visit again to confirm.

The visit, its transcript and all its documents move to the trash. Only the visit’s clinician or an owner or admin can delete a visit.

Deleting a visit removes its transcript and every document on it, including signed ones. If the visit has signed documents, the confirmation lists them so you can export or copy them into your EHR first. With trash turned on, you can restore the visit during your practice’s retention window. After that, or right away if trash is off, it’s permanently deleted.

Restore a visit

  1. Select Trash in the sidebar.
  2. Find the visit. Each one shows when it was deleted and how long until it’s destroyed.
  3. Select Restore.

Delete a visit forever

In Trash, select Delete forever and confirm. This can’t be undone.

Trash settings

Owners and admins can change these in Settings → Organization → General. With Move deleted visits to trash on, set Keep deleted visits for anywhere from 1 to 30 days (the default is 3). With it off, deleting a visit is immediate and permanent.

Deleting a single document (from its ⋯ menu) doesn’t use the trash: the document and its version history are deleted straight away.
