Letters and extra documents

Create referral letters, prior authorizations, patient instructions and other documents from the same visit.

On this page· 2 sections
  1. Built-in letters and documents
  2. How they’re written

One visit can produce several documents: the clinical note plus letters, patient instructions or forms, each in its own tab.

  1. Open the visit and select New document, to the right of the tabs.
  2. In Create another document, select one of the suggested documents, or choose any template under Or choose any template and select Create.
  3. The new document opens in its own tab and is written in a few moments.

Suggestions start with your favorite non-note templates, followed by common documents such as Specialist Referral Letter, Patient Instructions / After-Visit Summary and Prior Authorization Letter.

Built-in letters and documents

  • Specialist Referral Letter and Consult Reply Letter
  • Prior Authorization Letter and Biologic Prior Authorization Letter
  • Letter of Medical Necessity
  • Return-to-Work Letter and Work/School Excuse Note
  • Patient Instructions / After-Visit Summary

How they’re written

Letters, patient documents and forms are written from the visit’s transcript and context, and from the clinical note you already have for the visit. Signature lines use the name and credentials in Settings → Profile.

Each document has its own editor, AI assistant, version history, signature, copy and export. To remove one, open its ⋯ menu and select Delete document. This permanently deletes the document and its version history. The visit and transcript are kept. Signed documents can’t be deleted: select Amend first.

You can also draft letters in Ask Quillentra with commands such as /referral and /priorauth. See Slash commands and custom commands.
