Version history, signing and amendments

How autosave and version history work, how to sign a final document, and how to unlock a signed document to amend it.

On this page· 4 sections
  1. Autosave
  2. Version history
  3. Sign
  4. Amend a signed document

Autosave

Your edits save automatically a moment after you stop typing. The status above the document shows Saving…, Unsaved changes, or Saved with the version number (for example, Saved · v3). If it shows Not saved, select Retry next to it.

If someone else changed the document since you opened it (for example, a colleague in a shared workspace), reload the page to see the latest version.

Version history

  1. Open the document’s ⋯ menu and select Version history.
  2. Every AI draft, AI edit and manual save is kept, labeled AI draft, AI edit, Your edit or Restored. Select a version to preview it. The 50 most recent versions are listed.
  3. Select Restore this version. Restoring creates a new version, so nothing is lost.

Sign

When a document is final, select Sign. A signed document shows Signed with the date and time. Each document in a visit is signed separately, and every signature is recorded in the audit log.

Signed documents are locked. Once you sign a document, no one in your practice can edit it, regenerate it, switch its template, restore an earlier version, apply an AI edit to it or delete it, from any window or device. You can still copy and export it, and ask the AI assistant questions about it. If someone signs the document in another window while you’re still editing, Quillentra switches you to the signed copy and tells you that your unsaved change wasn’t applied.

A signed document always keeps its signer: exports show the name and credentials of the clinician who signed it, even if the visit later moves to a colleague or the signer leaves the practice.

Signing an edited document also helps Quillentra learn your style.

Amend a signed document

  1. Select Amend. The document returns to draft.
  2. Make your changes.
  3. Select Sign again.

The document goes back to being an editable draft, its version history is kept, and you sign it again when you’re done. Amending is recorded in the audit log, and every change is kept in version history. To delete a signed document, amend it first.
